Project Overview


Our client embarked on a strategic initiative to design a digital food delivery marketplace app focused on grocery retailers and restaurant groups across the GCC.


This project aimed to deliver a comprehensive understanding of the competitive market landscape, including platform positioning, growth drivers, customer acquisition behavior, and operational readiness, while identifying the essential platform features required to increase adoption, drive order frequency, and strengthen performance across both grocery and restaurant segments.


The Challenge


The consulting firm needed to quickly build a clear picture of the commercial and competitive environment before making strategic recommendations to their client. This included understanding how leading food delivery and grocery platforms grow market share, defend their customer base, and accelerate transaction volume in saturated urban markets.


They also needed clarity around how pricing models, promotions, loyalty structures, and subscription mechanics influence customer behavior and platform preference, as well as how restaurants and grocery partners respond to different incentive structures.

At the same time, they needed to understand real consumer behaviour. This meant evaluating how users choose between competing delivery platforms, what drives repeat usage, what increases basket size, and how customer expectations differ between grocery and restaurant use cases.
